Director’s can go and speak about their next projects but until it doesn’t come from the actor’s mouth, the project is definitely not on. It’s actors who dictate terms and it has been the same for many long years- An insider
It was in mid last year that producer Allu Aravind announced that his star son Allu Arjun would be collaborating with Harish Shankar for a new film. But the situation hasn’t gone according to the script. As one hit changes the fortunes of a director, so does a flop too. And who better than Harish Shankar, director of smash hit ‘Gabbar Singh’, knows it. The director’s much publicised ‘Ramayya Vastavayya’ with NTR failed to woo the audience and his proposed project with Allu Arjun never took off.
And if you think Harish Shankar is the only director who couldn’t get the actor’s dates, then think again. Speaking to us after the success of ‘Balupu’, director Gopichand Malineni hinted that his next would star Allu Arjun but this combination too couldn’t see the light of day.
“Director’s can go and speak about their next projects but until it doesn’t come from the actor’s mouth, the project is definitely not on. It’s actors who dictate terms and it has been the same for many long years,” says an insider from the industry.
Realising that Arjun had other plans, Gopichand Malineni has got actor Ram on board for his next, an action entertainer. It would go on floors shortly but there is no sign from Malineni whether he will indeed be directing the Stylish star in the future. Another director who planned to direct the Allu lad was Koratala Siva. The ‘Mirchi’, director who wanted to direct Arjun before he moves head with his UTV project with Mahesh Babu, had everything going in his way but in the nth hour, due to reasons unknown, he had to put his plans on the backburner.
So what would be Bunny’s immediate project now that he has almost completed shooting for ‘Race Gurram’? Well, there were reports that he has green-lit writer-turned-director Trivikram’s project, but nothing official has come out yet. We hear that the director ace is giving finishing touches to the script but whether the project is ‘on’ or ‘off’ is far from clear.
