Race Gurram Shooting Spot

After a sluggish 2013, Allu has huge hopes pinned on Race Gurram 

Tollywood's stylish Star Allu Arjun, who had a rather tepid 2013 with just one average hit in Iddarammayilatho, is betting big on his next project Race Gurram. 

Arjun would have enjoyed a second release in 2013 had Yevadu (featuring Ram Charan and Shruti Haasan) been released on time this year. Yevadu's release was postponed to January, 2014, because of the Telangana agitation. Incidentally, contrary to popular perception, Arjun will be seen in a major role in Yevadu. 

A leading distributor, who watched the rushes of the movie, says Race Gurram has all the trappings of a "blockbuster". "The flick is a romantic-action entertainer that reminds of Arjun's 'Bunny' days. He is in his element. His fans will love his character for sure in the movie," he said. 

Initially, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was selected to play the female lead role of the movie. However, she was replaced by Shruti Haasan later. After Race Guram, Shruti has not signed any Telugu movie as she is pursuing a career in Bollywood. 

Saloni Ashwani plays the second female lead. The film will mark the debut of Bhojpuri cinemas' Ravi Kishan in Tollywood as the new baddie. It has to be seen if Race Gurram pushes Allu Arjun back to the top. 

Race Gurram is directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Nallamalapu Srinivas and Venkateswara. Rao S Thaman has composed the music for the movie, which is said to be one of the best of Arjun in terms of action and choreography. The film has been shot extensively in Andhra Pradesh and many foreign locations. The film is slated for February release.
