Lucky The Racer is the Malayalam dubbed version of the popular Telugu movie Race Gurram. The movie was directed by Surender Reddy and the script was written by Vakkantham Vamsi. It is produced by Nallamalapu Srinivas (Bujji) and Dr. Venkateswara Rao under the banner of Lakshmi Narasimha production.
Lakshman (Allu Arjun) dons the role of a youngster who is good at heart, yet is unemployed and always at loggerheads with his older brother Ram (Shyam) who is an honest police officer. Ram has collected crucial evidence to stop the corrupt politician Shiva Reddy (Ravi Kishan) from becoming an MLA and he is in the verge of success when Lakshman steals his police jeep along with all the evidence. What is interesting from here is the twists and turns the story takes.
A love story between Spandana (Shruti Hassan) and Lakshman is also a short parallel narrative of the movie. Spandana’s father (Prakash Raj) is dead against the alliance.
The story adds the punch to the movie especially during the end when no one is sure how problems are going to be tackled.
But the strength of the movie is the performance of the cast as well as the script. Allu Arjun looks cool, as usual, throughout the movie. Shruti Hassan dons her character with ease and looks both hot and cute at the same time. Unfortunately she does not have much say in the movie. Prakash Raj does a humorous role and he does it true to his reputation. The humour was given a last minute boost by the appearance of Brahmanandam during the last shots of the movie.
The script was exemplary adding adrenalin to the great work by the cast.
The movie has a good script, cast and an average story base to sustain in the market. It is worth a watch if you are hoping to relax and forget reality and physics for a while.
