Allu Arjun
Tollywood industry has witnessed several hits and flops in 2014. The failures of several big-budget films suggest that the audiences are not ready to watch the regular run-of-the-mill stories and prefer to watch films with interesting content.
Check below the list of highest grossing Telugu films of 2014.
Race Gurram
Allu Arjun's "Race Gurram" has emerged as the highest grossing Telugu film of 2014. The film minted over ₹57 crore in its full run at the worldwide box office. The action comedy entertainer has surpassed collections of several hit films including "Mirchi" and "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu."
"Race Gurram" is placed fourth in the list of all-time highest grossing Telugu films (worldwide). It is also the first Allu Arjun starrer to cross the $1 million at the US box office.
Directed by Surendar Reddy, "Race Gurram" has Allu Arjun, Shaam, Shruti Haasan and Saloni in pivotal roles. Allu Arjun and comedian Brahmanandam's performances were major highlights of the film. The film's music, composed by Thaman, also received good response from the fans.
Yevadu
Ram Charan's "Yevadu" is also one of the highest grossing Telugu films. The action drama, directed by Vamsi Paidipally, received positive feedback from the fans. The film took good openings despite facing competition from Mahesh Babu's "1 Nenokkadine." The psychological thriller opened to mixed reviews and witnessed drop in collections. The poor performance of "1 Nenokkadine" worked in favour of "Yevadu" and the film struck gold at the box office.
"Yevadu" minted ₹47.1 crore share worldwide.
Legend
Nandamuri Balakrishna's "Legend" raked in ₹40.4 crore share at the worldwide box office. The film emerged as one of the biggest hits in Balakrishna's career.
Directed by Boyapati Srinu, "Legend" is a mass action entertainer with all the commercial elements. The film received good reviews from the critics and the audience also gave big thumbs-up to the Nandamuri starrer.
Recently, "Legend" successfully completed 275 days in a few theatres in AP/Telangana areas.
Manam
Akkineni multi-starrer "Manam" was not only critically-acclaimed, but also a commercially successful film. The family drama fetched ₹36.5 crore in its full run at the worldwide box office.
Directed by Vikram Kumar, "Manam" brought three generations of Akkineni family members including ANR, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya together. Akhil (Nagarjuna-Amala's son) also made a cameo appearance in the film.
"Manam" was ANR's last film in his career and unfortunately the actor passed away even before the film hit the screens. Post the release of "Manam," many critics and fans cited that the film is a perfect tribute for ANR and the legendary actor has given one of his best performances in the film.
Power
Ravi Teja starrer "Power" has fetched approximately ₹23 crore and emerged as a hit at the worldwide box office.
The film, directed by KS Ravindra, is a mass masala entertainer with Ravi Teja playing the role of a cop. Hansika and Regina Cassandra are also part of the film's cast.
Loukyam
Gopichand's "Loukyam" has minted approximately over ₹21.55 crore in lifetime collections. The film fared well, despite facing competition from Mahesh Babu's "Aagadu" and Ram Charan's "Govindudu Andarivaadele."
