No one knew or cared about who Gona Ganna Reddy was, until Rudhramadevi the movie hitting the theaters. Special appreciation goes to Gunasekhar, for selecting Stylish Star Allu Arjun in the role. He brought a question to everyone’s mind by excelling in the role, Who is Gona Ganna Reddy?

In this article, we will tell you Who Gona Ganna Reddy was and What the hype is all about. Gona Ganna Reddy is the son of a King Gonna Budda Reddy who actually contributed in Ranganatha Ramayanam as Dwipada Kavyam in Telugu. Gona Ganna Reddy belongs to Vardamanapuram and he played a vital role during the rule of Queen Rudhramadevi in Kakathiya Dynasty.

Gona Ganna Reddy has been a supporter of Kakathiya Dynasty but was a thief who mostly wandered in forests. He is actually in disguise, to protect the Kingdom and to support the Queen in order to get complete protection to the kingdom from other kings.

It all started when Ganapathi Deva, King of Orugallu was in troubles from various other Kingdoms. He expects a boy child from his wife, but she gives birth to a girl child. He introduces the child as a boy, Rudhra to entire kingdom just to avoid problems.
After the death of Ganapathi Deva, Rudhra has no other go except to accept the fact of her being a girl and yet, she gets on to rule the kingdom successfully hence getting her name as Rudhramadevi. She gives all her strengths and hard work to protect the kingdom but gets severe protest from some people in the kingdom, who oppose a female ruler to be on the throne.
Here’s where Gona Ganna Reddy comes into the picture, giving all his support to the queen indirectly and getting her all the wins in the wars.
No one knew this story behind Rudhramadevi’s  amazing rule, and so people never got to know the sacrifices and hard work by Gona Ganna Reddy. Thanks to Gunasekhar for getting the person exposed and that too with Allu Arjun doing one of the best performances in his entire career.
