Rating: ***
When a director like Trivikram Sreenivas, known for writing good screenplay and dialogues, teams up with an energetic star like Allu Arjun, the audience can expect high voltage action, good dose of comedy and full on entertainment.
Sreenivas zeroed on his lucky mascot Ileana, who worked with him in blockbuster "Jalsa", which had Pawan Kalyan in the lead.
Julayi can be described as the best cinematic effort by Sreenivas as far as the proceedings in the first half is concerned, but it loses its steam later.
The film's strength is comedy-laced dialogues written by the director, comic timing of Allu Arjun and Devi Sri Prasad composed trendy music.
Ileana, who was too good in films like "Pokiri" and "Jalsa", adds glamour quotient to the film.
The story revolves around Ravi who is interested in making money through short. He is not willing to put in too much physical work.
On the contrary his father values hard earned money.
Ravi tries to make money through a cricket gang and there he gets involved with Bittu's gang.
Bittu, who runs an illegal booking racket, devises a plan to loot a co-operative bank with the help of a minister and he succeeds.
He manages to loots Rs.1,500 crore from the bank, but an honest police officer with help from Ravi manages to track down Bittu. In this rate and mouse game, Ravi kills Bittu's brother.
After that the police officer sends Ravi to Hyderabad to take refuge in the house of ACP Seetharam where he meets Madhu and falls in love with her.
Meanwhile, angry Bittu is on a prowl to find Ravi to seek revenge. What happens later and how the money is saved forms the climax of the film.
Allu Arjun shows a lot of improvement in his performance besides impressing with his fights and dances, while Ileana is good in romantic sequences and songs.
Rajendra Prasad delivers a very good performance as ACP Seetharam. Sonu Sood once again proves he can be very good in negative roles.
The film has many experienced veteran artists who have done their roles with ease.
All the songs from Devi Sri Prasad are well composed and richly picturised. Naidu brothers have done commendable work behind the camera. Editing work is crisp and dances are well choreographed.
