When I saw the first rushes of Trivikram Srinivas’ S/o Satyamurthy, I immediately knew that this family drama will work well at box office. With star studded cast of Allu Arjun, Samantha, Nithya Menon, Sneha, Upendra and many others, the film became a huge hit.
But mever did I thought the film will rake a whopping Rs 80 crore at box office with in three weeks of its release. Yes, Allu Arjun – Samantha starrer has managed to set the cash registers ringing making a profit of Rs 50 crores. This makes S/o Satyamurthy the seventh most highest grossing film in the history of Telugu cinema. Incidentally, Allu Arjun’s 2014 blockbuster, Race Gurram, holds the fourth spot in the top ten grossers list of Tollywood, with a profit share of Rs 57 crores.
“With a distributor share of over Rs 50 crore, the film has done phenomenal business at the box office. It is currently at seventh position in the list of top 10 grossing Telugu films,” said trade analyst Trinath.
The film which still holds the number one spot in the highest grossers list is Pawan Kalyan’s Attarintiki Daredi with Rs 75 crores of profit share. While Ram Charan Teja’s Magadheera is the second highest grosser with Rs 73 crores of profit, Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh takes the third spot with Rs 60 crores of profit.
With no big Telugu release this weekend, one expects S/o Satyamurthy to swell its profit shares by few more crores.
