It was the year 2007, when Deepika Padukone made her spectacle debut in Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om and we knew that the she is here to stay. As we enter 2015, it is beyond a smidgen of doubt that super talented Deepika is one of the top most actresses in the industry currently. But not many know that before making her B-town debut, she starred in a Kannada film, Aishwarya. Last year, we saw Deepika returning back to her roots as she was paired opposite superstar Rajinikanth in Kochadaiiyaan. While her look was criticised, we believe the animated flick did not do justice to her potential.
Today, as she turns 29,for the delight of her South Indian fans, we suggest 5 superstars of Southern cinema with whom Deepika should share screen space.
Mahesh Babu
Deepika has made outstanding debuts in Kannada and Tamil. We believe now it’s time for her to make her presence felt at immensely popular Telugu film industry too. And what better way to make a debut in Tollywood than pairing opposite superstar Mahesh Babu. Deepika and Mahesh will make terrific onscreen pair, thanks to their dashing personalities and towering frame.
Allu Arjun
Other Tollywood star who would look great opposite Ms Padukone is Allu Arjun aka Bunny. Over the years, Deepika has proven to be a terrific dancer and has shaken her leg with some excellent dancers of B-town. Given that Allu Arjun is like a live wire on dance floor, it would be a treat to watch Allu Arjun and Deepika groove together to a fast paced number.
Vikram
The actor who is lovingly called as Chiyaan Vikram by his fans, is making headlines for his upcoming film I. If anyone has seen the trailer of I, they would know that Vikram is jack of all trades, as he acts, fights, dances and romances with panache. In fact, I feel that Deepika would have been perfect for Vikram’s I in place of Amy Jackson.
Ajith
Ajith Kumar, fondly called as Thala by his fans, is a force to reckon with Tamil cinema, due to his massive fan following. Ajith, known for his style and iconic dialogue delivery would make a great jodi with Deepika Padukone. In fact, both Ajith and Deepika can pull off urban and desi roles with perfection, making them a lovely onscreen couple to look out for.
Kamal Haasan
If superstar Rajinikanth is the style icon of Tamil cinema, Kamal Haasan’s talent is every actor’s envy as he brings so much versatility to the table. Wjile being paired opposite Rajini did not give enough scope for Deepika to perform, working with Kamal, the Mr Perfectionist of South, will give the dainty beauty so much to learn and imbibe from the veteran actor. Also Kamal Haasan is known for his romantic scenes and it would be interesting to see if Kamal, just like Rajini, would be nervous to romance a much younger actress.
We know that Deepika is one of the busiest bee in B-town, but it would be wonderful if she could venture down South once in a while juggling projects in multiple industries. Meenamma ofChennai Express – South Indian films beckon you
