Film Federation of India has now recommended historical Telugu film “Rudhramadevi” for the Oscar Awards in the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ category. The news has been confirmed by the film’s director Gunasekhar himself. ‘Rudhramadevi’ is the India’s first historical 3D film. It depicted the story of queen Rudramadevi, who ruled the Kakatiya kingdom. The film has already won several state level awards. Starring Anushka Shetty in the titular role, the film had hefty support from Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati. Rudhramadeviwas released worldwide on 9 October 2015, with dubbed versions in Hindi and Malayalam languages. The Tamildubbed version was released by Sri Thenandal Films on 16 October. Upon release, the film received positive reviews, with critics praising the direction, narrative style, background score, and Anushka’s performance. The film became the fifth highest opening day grossing Indian film of 2015. Gunasekhar is currently planning to make the biopic of ‘Prathapa Rudrudu’, the grandson of ‘Rudhramadevi’.
