Gunasekhar's high budget extravaganza Rudramadevi, being made in stereoscopic 3D technology, has wrapped up the shooting and is gearing up for the audio launch in November.
The film showcases the story of the 13th century warrior queen Rudramadevi of Kakatiya dynasty, played by Anushka Shetty. Rudramadevi is part of Telangana's history and culture, based on the Kakatiya Dynasty that ruled most of the Telugu speaking lands with Warangal (then Oruguallu) as its capital.
Because of this connect, the film-maker has reportedly approached the Telangana government for exemption from entertainment tax.
Gunasekhar is hoping that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who is always passionate to promote Telangana culture will accept his request as it would help the film reach a wider audience. Made on a budget of Rs 40 crore, Rudramadevi is set to hit the screens in December, coinciding with Christmas.
