How did Bunny Gain So Much Popularity in Kerala?

The popularity of allu arjun in Kerala is not spread equally among all age groups and sex. He is among the young men of Kerala while the older and female audiences are not into his movies to a great extent. This is because of a combination of factors that existed when the dubbed version of his film ’Arya ’ released around 2005

1. As indicated in another answer, the Malayalam industry at the time was undergoing a transformation in all areas of filmmaking. However the young crop of actors had yet to come up with exciting movies. There was a dearth of a typical young hero like the characters Arjun plays in his movies.

2. Despite the changes in social reality in the era of globalisation, mMalayalam cinema was yet to adapt elements of consumerist culuture that was gaining ground in real life esp among the youth. Allu arjuns movies contained such elements making it appealing to younger audiences.

3. His dancing skills is another factor that made him popular.

4. After the success of his first movie there was a conscious effort from his PR agents to build up a fan base in Kerala to increase his market value.

A combination of these factors helped cement his place as a popular actor in Kerala.
